Though understated and industrial in its appearance, PATCO’s expert design team and Steel Crew customized the entire building to fit Fore River’s unique brewery specifications and needs. My favorite part of the job is that I get to see a project come to life and see all the hard work pay off. Partners for World Health collects unused medical supplies and equipment from healthcare facilities and distributes them to those in need around the world. After witnessing the conditions of hospitals in developing countries, Elizabeth McLellan, RN, MSN, MPH, vowed to do something to help. In 2007, she began gathering discarded supplies from the Maine hospital where she was working.
Their project managers oversee timelines, budgets, subcontractors, and quality control, providing clients with peace of mind throughout the process. At 32 years old, Spurling is a young entrepreneur and this was his first commercial construction project. PATCO mapped out the whole process for Spurling and walked him through it in a way that was not overwhelming, but educational. For example, when a heating system emergency arose on a Friday night and Spurling sent an email at 10pm, he received a timely and caring response from Dennis within minutes. Some days I’m in the office, some days get to go out into the field and take a look at the construction sites. When I started in May 2021, I worked on the steel crew for the first few months.

The pandemic has led to additional challenges as materials have become more difficult to source, which has led to extended wait times. The PATCO team was aware of these timelines, however, and able to plan ahead to stay on schedule. Unique to this partnership is the fact that Eldredge could supply their own lumber, windows, and doors. PATCO has handled sourcing the rest of the materials needed and has made it happen, despite the supply challenges.

Cut to today, when Spurling had an opportunity to expand his business with an addition to the existing metal building that housed his successful gym in Kennebunk, he knew just who to call. It’s not often that a lumber customer becomes the building contractor for the lumber company, but in the case of PATCO construction and Eldredge Lumber, that is exactly what happened.
